Our Mission and Vision
Housing, food, love and safety are basic needs of every child. To raise and guide a child is not an easy task; each child is unique. We invest in the healthy development of children. It is our mission to offer help to those children with psychological and/or social needs. We take care of these children, providing guidance and raising them in a safe and loving environment.
In addition to providing for basic needs our vision is four-fold. The children's home-situation is crucial for their development, and, therefore, we stay in constant contact with the parents or caregivers and assess the needs of the families and how we can support them in raising the children. Where needed and wanted, Foundation Meant to Shine assists both children and their families.
Functional guidance
The child learns practical skills, such as going to school, cleaning his/her room, and personal hygiene.
Social guidance
Each child needs contact with others for a healthy development: parent(s), siblings, peers and staff. Each relationship and every contact is of a different kind and depth. We teach and guide the children in acquiring needed skills.
Emotional guidance
Anger, happiness, sadness and fear are normal emotions for every individual. Many children have suffered trauma in their lives. They may have tremendous difficulty expressing their feelings in an appropriate way. We teach them to express these feelings in a healthy and safe way.
Spirituality
We teach the children about God and what His love means for their lives. This is woven into the fabric of what we do daily, but also through the telling of Bible stories and praying with the children.
